A Theory of Mindsets perspective Bullying is often explained as cruelty, insecurity, or dominance behavior — but those explanations skim the surface. Through the lens of the Survival‑Based Mindset (SBM) , bullying becomes something far more structural: a predictable outcome of a mindset that has lost access to empathy and relies entirely on threat‑management and control to maintain psychological stability. SBM is not “mean” by nature; it is threat‑anchored . It builds identity from the outside in, scanning constantly for danger, instability, or social unpredictability. When identity depends on threat‑avoidance, difference becomes dangerous, empathy becomes inaccessible, and conformity becomes a survival strategy.
